Synopsis
T here are people in this world whose minds were kissed by the gods. They gaze up at the sky to divine and are correct nine times out of ten. Other than that, they possess a single talent: attracting unclean things.
Xun Ruosu runs a tiny fortune-telling stall in the old quarter. She does only three readings a day and only for auspicious things, never misfortune. If she earns a few coins she gets by; if not she goes hungry. She takes life as it comes.
Until the day her end drew near and she lay down early in her coffin to wait for heaven to collect her. The Xun family’s ancestral grave suddenly sent up a curl of blue smoke, and out climbed a stunning woman in red who called herself Xue Tong, the Wheel-Turning King of the Ten Courts.
The beauty shook the coffin hard: “Up, up. You cannot sleep here!”
Xun Ruosu: „…I’m not sleeping. I’m closing my eyes for good.“
After that, Xun Ruosu went into a frustrating cycle of: „If the client has problems, I have to conduct rites to send them away; if not, I’ll create some so I can send them away.”
